On October 9 in Nusa Dua, Bali, the yearly Senior Officials Meeting between Indonesia and The Netherlands took place. The Dutch delegation was headed by Director General for Political Affairs Mr. Pieter de Gooijer, and consisted further of Ambassador Nikolaos van Dam and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague and the Dutch Embassy in Jakarta. The Indonesian delegation was headed by the Director General for Europe and the Americas, Mrs. Retno L.P. Marsudi. Furthermore, representatives of various Indonesian ministries and the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague took part in the meeting.

During the meeting a large number of issues in the bilateral relationship were discussed, such as in the field of economics and investments, cultural cooperation, human rights, and international issues such as the situation in the Middle East and Afghanistan. Elaborate discussions took place about the various development cooperation programmes, such as those in the fields of good governance, water management, education, the reconstruction of Aceh and juridical reforms. The total development cooperation budget for Indonesia amounts to over 100 million Euros per year (over 1.300 billion Rupiah).

The DGs agreed to work further on the new cooperation agreement between The Netherlands and Indonesia, the so-called 'Comprehensive Partnership'. Finally, a number of upcoming visits of Dutch ministers to Indonesia were discussed: in the next months the Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Justice will visit Indonesia. Next year's Senior Official Meeting will take place in The Netherlands.
