Why can only complete applications be submitted?
Our goal is to serve our visa clients in the most efficient manner. We try to take a decision on your visa application within 15 days. It is therefore important that your visa application is complete. Incomplete files lead to delays in processing all visa applications.

What happens if my application is incomplete?
Your application will not be processed and will be given back to you. You may come back the following Wednesday from 08.00 - 12.00 hrs without appointment to submit the completed file. If your application still turns out to be incomplete, then you may come back the next Wednesday from 08.00 - 12.00 hrs without appointment. If your application is still incomplete, then you will have to schedule a new appointment through 021-5271904 (please note that getting an appointment can take up to 2 weeks).

Note: no information concerning the status of your application will be given by email or telephone.

If you insist that your incomplete application is processed, then a decision will be taken based on the incomplete file. This may lead to refusal of the visa.

Will I get the visa when my application is complete?
Applications that are accepted at the counter still have to be assessed by our staff, a decision is yet to be taken. The fact that the file is complete at submission does NOT imply that you will get a visa nor does it imply that no additional documents can be requested in a later stage.

Please take a photocopy with you of all original documents that are to be returned to you.

Mandatory Schengen Travel Insurance

In March 2004 the EU Council in Brussels decided to implement as from June 1st, 2004 a mandatory travel insurance as a precondition for visa issuing.

In principle this means that a visa applicant has to submit, together with his visa application for a short stay in the Schengen member states, proof of a valid personal or collective travel insurance covering:

• Expenses for repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical care and/or
• Urgent medical treatment in a hospital
• The minimum value of the mandatory travel policy is determined at € 30,000
• Insurance premiums for these policies are charged by the insurance company and not by the diplomatic or consular representation

Long term visit visa

Foreign nationals, who intend to stay in the Netherlands for a period longer than three months should apply for an authorisation for temporary stay (MVV).

Requirements for an authorisation for temporary stay (MVV) for family-reunion in the Netherlands.

From the applicant:

• A valid passport and a copy
• One recent* passport-size photograph
• One fully, correctly and clearly completed application form, duly dated and signed.
• In case the applicant was born in Indonesia, a birth certificate legalised by this Embassy.
• In case the marriage took place in Indonesia, a marriage certificate legalised by this Embassy

From the spouse in the Netherlands:

• Photocopy of the Netherlands passport, or residence permit.

Please note that:

1. Applications will only be accepted when complete.
2. Applicants should in principle appear in person to submit the application. Upon issuance of an MVV the passport can be returned through a courier service.
3. The requisite fee must be paid upon submission of an MVV application. Under no circumstances is this fee refundable.
4. Visa and MVV application forms are free of charge. The Royal Netherlands Embassy does not charge for admission to the Embassy.
5. Opening hours for visa applications are Monday to Thursday from 08:30 am to 12:00 noon by appointment only.
